WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE EVENT?
Shining a local spotlight on the
new beginnings of formerly homeless women and others that are have changed the trajectory for
women on an unprecedented scale, the Nicholas
House New Beginnings Awards Luncheon is a special
fundraising event that acknowledges the journey of amazing women, raises
awareness of family homelessness and supports programs and services provided by
Nicholas House for homeless families. Our goal is to raise $20,000+ to support the journeys of the homeless families we serve from homelessness to self-sufficiency.
WHAT DOES NICHOLAS HOUSE DO?
Nicholas House is an Atlanta family shelter that helps homeless families achieve self-sufficiency by providing them with a temporary place to live while addressing the root causes of their homelessness. Founded 38 years ago out of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church when members opened their Sunday School rooms to 5 families in need, today Nicholas House serves 300 homeless parents and children every night with an array of comprehensive housing programs that address the unique needs of families experiencing different types of homelessness.
Nicholas House is unique in that we keep families together regardless of composition, our programs are accountability-based, and we focus on long-term outcomes for the families we serve, tracking them for up to two years after graduation.
